| RE: Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Email Not Able to open upgraded to V You need to reinstall Office & Outlook, then open Outlook and use the menu: File, Open, Outlook Data file to open your pst file. You need to reinstall all your programs to work with Vista. | Re: Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Email Not Able to open upgraded to V Hi Mary, Programs should not have to be reinstalled after an upgrade. Selina's problem is the location of the .pst file, they don't have the proper permissions to access it. These need to be fixed, reinstalling the application or importing the file will not be sufficient. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "Mary" <Mary@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:0F0FD30A-D158-40F3-A0DB-6F51A6ED4886@microsoft.com... > You need to reinstall Office & Outlook, then open Outlook and use the > menu: > File, Open, Outlook Data file to open your pst file. | Re: Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Email Not Able to open upgraded Hi, Certainly that is the problem. First, Vista doesn't use the "C:\Documents and Settings" path, it uses C:\users. If this were a true upgrade, the file should have been migrated to your new user account under this folder path. You will need to go into the mail settings of Outlook and change the path to your .pst file. Check under your new user profile to see if the file was migrated properly. Failing that, you will need to locate the .pst file and move it over to your profile. If you run into "access denied" while trying to obtain it, we will have to take ownership of the housing folder by right clicking it and changing the advanced security settings (I can help with this if needed). -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "Selina" <Selina@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:FDCC1242-54D1-4AFB-A348-D7E58B940C33@microsoft.com... > Microsoft outlook > and extenision failed to initialize.cant open file:extend.dat.The file may > not exist.you may not have permission to open it ,or it my be open .you in > another program.Right click the folder tthat contains the file and click > properties to check your permission for that folder . you dont have > permission to perform this operation.
