| Standby And hibernate options gone! yesterday i threw my laptop on hibernate and did laundry and then came back and used it fine. the night went on and i updated vista because there were 3 updates to install, so i did that around 11pm. i finally went to shut my laptop down at around 2 am (after i rebooted from the update an hour before) and found that standby and hibernate were gone from the options menu. i tried all this other stuff about going to the powe managment and whatnot, standby and hibernate are gone from those options too. all thats left is sleep snd shut down (along with switch user, lock, and log off). was there something in the update that caused this to happen? |

| RE: Standby And hibernate options gone! Hi, Could it be a Video Card issue? I know with some Video Cards the sleep and hibernate weren't an option. Did it change your video card driver? | RE: Standby And hibernate options gone! Standby has become Sleep and Hybrid Sleep, while Hibernate is still available but less used now since Hybrid sleep is a combo of Hibernate & sleep--except it is still recommended for notebooks. You control these in Power Options, power schemes, 'Change advanced settings' in each scheme. You can restore Hibernate there. Look at Help in Power Options for the full info on the new power settings. Try the Power Saver scheme and adjust advanced settings to your preference.
