Text file icons nearly invisible in Vista!

These icons are nearly solid white with just a faint hint of an outline. And
against the Vista explorer/folder view white background they are nearly
invisible!

Unlike XP, I cant change the text file icon NOR the Vistas explore/folder
view white background. Yes I know that the background "can" be changed by >
personalize > windows color and appearance > open classic appearance >
advanced > window, but it does not work!

If this or the text file icon cant be changed, is there some 3rd party app
that can help me do that?

Re: Text file icons nearly invisible in Vista!

Hi,

You can change icon in registry under the key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\txtfile\DefaultIcon

in default entry.

The icon has a border plus lines across it. You might want to try setting
the View to the medium icon size.

Re: Text file icons nearly invisible in Vista!

Thanks to both of you for your replies which I found useful. However, my icon
view settings were already on medium size. Maybe my display is bright and the
lines on the icon dont appear very well. Still I would like the option (as in
XP) to change the icon to one of my choice without having to go into the
registry. And also to change the background color in the window which doesnt
seem to be working in Vista.

Thanks
amenx
