| hangs on restart and shutdown - vista home premium upgrade Hi, I just installed Vista, and one problem that I have not been able to solve on my own is the shut down problem. Whenever I click restart or shut down, the computer goes through the motions, shuts off the monitor, etc., all that it would normally do before finally turning off. But instead it just keeps spinning away. I have let it run that way for some minutes before manually shutting it off with the power button. Can anyone suggest what might be done to correct this? Or could anyone tell me what other info I can provide to make it easier to provide suggestions? Thanks in advance!! |

Also, make you have Vista drivers running for all your cards. -- http://www.bootdisk.com/ |

| Re: hangs on restart and shutdown - vista home premium upgrade Thanks! My drivers are up to date, but I'll doublecheck. As for shutting off background programs, I'll try that. That seems like something I should not have to do myself. Why doesn't the computer do that itself? Something that MS needs to work out for Vista users? Or, would that be an incorrect assumption? |

| Re: hangs on restart and shutdown - vista home premium upgrade I have the same problem and have not been able to find a fix. I'm getting tired of shutting down the pc manually. I reverted back to XP and the restart function works perfect. BTW, all my drivers are updated for Vista also. I'm about to send the CD back to Microsoft and ask for a refund+tax. | RE: hangs on restart and shutdown - vista home premium upgrade WOW I FIXED IT!!!...... I have a logiteck webcam, I uninstalled the webcam drivers. (if you have one, uninstall the drivers via control panel, programs, unistall a program). The PC restarted normally. FINALLY. I re-installed the webcam drivers and now everything is working the way it was intended.
