Vista Media Center - sound "pops and ticks"

Whenever I try using Media Center in Vista 32, the sound ticks and pops when
playing music. This will stop if everything in the background has stopped
moving and loading. I have 3GB of ram, an Audigy ZS sound card (with most up
to date driver). However my video card is an nVidia GeForce 5700LE (128MB),
which is a detriment to my "Vista Experience Rating (2.0)". Could this be
the cause, or could it be something else.

The codec pack looks good, are these files safe to download? I'm always
reluctant to download exe files from unknown sources

Re: Vista Media Center - sound "pops and ticks"

I gave it a try, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Any other ideas?

RE: Vista Media Center - sound "pops and ticks"

Hey Scott, I am having the same issues. Just loaded up Ultimate running a
Sound Blaster 24Bit Live! and a 256 Geforce FX card. In addition to that,
when I play music through Media Player and then open up a picture in windows
gallery, I will get a pop and static on the speakers until it is done
loading. I am guessing these are both related and am working on resolving
this.

If you are using CL card (sound blaster) there is a problem
with all there drivers at this time for Vista, try to download new
soud card drivers forVista from you sound card company.

Re: Vista Media Center - sound "pops and ticks"

Hey I'm getting this problem too! Any attempt to open pictures while music
is playing (on any player) causes sound drop-outs.

I am pretty sure I have the latest driver as I just installed Vista yesterday.

RE: Vista Media Center - sound "pops and ticks"

I have the same problem, but only after resuming from standby. I use the
SoundBlaster Live! 24-bit with the latest drivers from Creative.

Anyone a solution to this problem??

Regards,
Gwen.
