Hi,
I need to get past the logon screen of windows vista.
I friend of mine died unfortunatly but we need to access his
accounting information from his shop.
When i start vista i get username but i don't know the password.

Can somebody advice?

Condolences for your loss...

Unless your friend encrypted the data in some way, e.g. with BitLocker or
HaSP or whatever, the simplest way might be to take the hard disk out and
put it in your computer - that way, you should simply be able to log in as
admin, take ownership of the files, and copy them to your main hard disk...

run it in safe mode and try and remove it from there

Bypass Vista completely by booting from a BartPE image. You can then access all users/files easily.

If you don't need to use any of his programs and just get access to
the files, you can use a Linux Live CD (which runs from your CD ROM
drive and doesn't install on the hard drive).

You then mount the hard drive and access any file on it, regardless of
ownership and then copy it to a USB flash drive, CD-R/RW, DVD±R/
RW or external hard drive.

I recommend Knoppix.
