| Re: Placed an Order for a New Gateway Computer, a Windows Vista Ready Computer. Awesome! It'll be interesting to see how well it works with 512MB of memory. If you feel the need, you might want to upgrade to at least 1GB: http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=DX420B But only if you need to obviously. Try it first. | Re: Placed an Order for a New Gateway Computer, a Windows Vista Ready Computer. Some motherboards don't support the P4 D series and the Core 2 Duo. Do you know what chipset it is using? DVD burners, if you need one sooner, are at NewEgg for under $30 More RAM would be very helpful. Video card is alright, as long as you don't do much gaming. For the price, you did alright. Keeping your upgrades in mind when buying was a good idea. I always like to buy with future upgrades in mind, no sense in buying something with a deadend upgrade path. -- Dustin Harper dharper@vistarip.com http://www.vistarip.com -- <kevpan815********.com> wrote in message news:eFHJneQYHHA.1244@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl... > Gateway DX420B, Subtotal = $499.99, Total = $625.80 (After Tax and > Shipping and Handling). > Intel Pentium D 925 Processor featuring 2 Processing Cores (3 GHz > Processor, 800 MHz Front Side Bus, 2x2 MB Cache, non-HT, EM64T) (Will > Upgrade to a Intel Core 2 Duo at a Later Time). > Genuine Windows Vista Home Basic (With Backup Windows Vista DVD) (Will > Upgrade to Windows Vista Ultimate Edition at a Later Time using Windows > Vista Any Time Upgrade). > 512 MB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM (2-256 MB Modules) (will Upgrade to 4 GB's of > Memory at a Later Time). > 160 GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA 2nd Generation 300 Series Hard Disk Drive with > 8 MB Cache. > 48X/32X/48X CD-RW/DVD Rom Drive (Will Upgrade to a DVD Burner at a Later > Time). > ATI x1300 Ultra Video Card with 128 MB VRAM Duel DVI & TV Out. > 9 in 1 Memory Card Reader (Will add a Floppy Disk Drive at a Later Time). > Microsoft Works 8.5 (Will Upgrade to Microsoft Office 2007 at a Later > Time). > Cyber Link Power 2 Go (Download Only). > Gateway 6-Bay Micro BTX Case. > Gateway Elite Multimedia Key Board > Intel Mother Board with P965 Chipset with Integrated 10/100 Ethernet. > Soft Touch USB Optical Wheel Mouse. > 400 Watt Power Supply. > 1 Year Warranty (May Upgrade to a 3 Year Warranty at a Later Time). > Deleted Dial Up Modem (I have Comcast High Speed Internet). > Did Not Purchase their McAfee Security Suite (I prefer to use Avast 4.7 > Pro Edition). > Did Not Purchase their AOL Special Offer (See Above). > > Kevin John Panzke (MSDN OS Level Subscriber) > > P.S. | I did yardwork today You ordered a new computer. WOW. That is great. Thanks for sharing here in the Vista group. I did some yardwork today, mowed the lawn, picked weeds, generally took care of the yard. Later, I'm going to go out to dinner with the wife. Let us all know whenever you load new software. <kevpan815********.com> wrote in message news:eFHJneQYHHA.1244@TK2MSFTNGP04.phx.gbl...
