Can't start Windows Event Log service

I can't start the Windows Event Log service in Vista. Whenever I
attempt to do this I recieve the following error.

"Windows could not start the Windows Event Log service on the Local
Computer.

Error 5: Access is denied."

Anythoughts, other then re-installing welcomed.....unless of course
that is the only solution :(

RE: Can't start Windows Event Log service

Type services.msc in the Start box to open the Services page and see what the
hangup is. Sounds like you don't have the Administrator rights to perform
this.
PS Don't reinstall--that won't solve this.

RE: Can't start Windows Event Log service

I'm actually getting the same error on a Client's Vista Business computer.
When you try to manually start the service from the services snap in, it
always gives that "Error 5: Access is Denied" message. I can start and stop
other services, so I think the error is in the Local System logon, not the
user's rights performing the start/stop. This error keeps the event viewer
from showing anything.
