It's a little bit taller depending on how you have it setup however it
doesn't blow up all over your desktop like XP with it's "levels and layers."

Even this isn't RTM but it's a much better example, first Google pic I

I run Vista because it's the current technology. I'm a software architect
and it just doesn't make sense not to start abandoning the obsolete XP for
the current Vista. I could add individual likes and dislikes but in the end,
it doesn't matter because it's not up to me. The train has left the station
and you can either jump on or be left behind.

I noticed in those pics that "large icons" are turned on. Turn off large
icons and the menu will be smaller. Turning off large icons doesn't change
the size of the text but will make the menu smaller overall...

The people that praise Vista and say that they have no problems can't really
be soak testing it very well or are most probably morons. There are lots of
problems with the unbolt apps at this stage, and even things as simple as
moving or deleting files takes much longer than with XP, and I have powerful
hardware here.

There is no real reason to bother upgrading an XP machine. Just get it with
a new computer, or wait till SPA sorts out (most of) the bugs.

I need a new computer ASAP, but I'm trying to gauge how successful the Vista
launch is before I decide whether I want XP or Vista, and what versions of each.
From what I can see, Vista is a failure for what I intended (burning 8 hour
videotapes to Blu-Ray), but that could change in a couple of years. But also
what hardware I'd need to be Vista compatible without getting Vista preloaded
(even the preloaded systems don't have all of the drivers!). So, if I pick an
E6600 chip and a MOBO with 3 PCI slots in it and 2 PCIe slots for video and USB
& Firewire (really hard to find firewire included on mobos); then I have to
figure out what video & capture cards I need & soundcard I need special ordered
(M-Audio most likely); how many hard drives I need; and the power supply needed
(what a touchy subject!). I replace all of my lightbulbs to low wattage units to
save on electricity and these new computer power supplies are gonna overload my
BackUPS during a blackout!

What is the best way to set up Virtual machines, still seing new answers as of
today here, horribly unimpressive.
