Hello,

Need a little help here, got a new Dell E521 for a buddy of mine & they
require a 56k modem installed, got one from my old PC with no drivers for
it, it's got the netodragon chipset on it, any idea how I can get it to work
with Vista? Tried some drivers off drivers guide & I got a BSOD!

Any help appreciated!!!

Non available. XP ones "may" work. Failing that, a winmodem is the
price of a pack of cigarettes so find one with an Intel chipset.

Hello all,

I managed to get it to work under vista, I just dowloaded what I could off
driver guides for netodragon drivers & installed the modem in my XP machine
to make sure they worked 1st! After that was back to Vista with the modem
plugged back in, cancelled the Vista installation process & then ran the
setup file located in my downloaded drivers folder. Vista accepted the
drivers, no BSOD & I rebooted. All is well, my buddy is well happy & so am
I. Unfortunately I can't remember which driver worked but I'll be glad to
e-mail them to anybody that requires them, it's a 3MB file so e-mail
friendly!

Question for you ISX... When your modem dials out do you hear dial tone and
dialing etc from your computer speakers?

Sorry for the multiple posts on this topic but hopefully others will be as
happy as I am. Just don't let Vista try & install it, manually run
setup.exe, reboot & you should be fine!

To answer DanR there is sound from the PC speaker as I didn't have any
speakers connected to the "Dell"! It managed to dial my cell & it's
connected to AOL dial-up with no problems!
