What was the lifespan of Windows XP ??

Just out of curiosity - how long was Windows XP out before Vista was
officially released??

Seems to me that it had one of the shortest lifespans of any of the
MS's operating system or am I wrong??

XP was released October 25, 2001. We're looking at a 6-7 yeah lifespan.

That may actually be the longest -- I haven't done much checking though.

Nearly six years. XP was released October 25, 2001.

The other way around. It's been a very long time, much longer than usual.
I'm not sure if it's been the longest life-span, but it's probably close.

Ken

You also asked this in windowsxp.general. Don't send the same message
separately to different newsgroup, called multiposting. If it's needed,
(but it wasn't in this case), use crossposting, that is sending to one
message to different groups at the same time.

You're wrong!

Windows ME had the shortest lifespan of modern Window Operating systems -
thank goodness.

Re: What was the lifespan of Windows XP ??

XP was the longest, but it was the best so far. Of course, some say that
XP and XP SP2 were pretty much 2 different OS's, as XP wasn't much
without SP2.

<shrug> I've got WinME installed on my other PC using it for playing MP3's
into my EMU 0404 USB and for some older computer games. I could install
Win98SE if I wanted but ME works fine and I don't have to go find drivers
for my USB thumb drives either like I would on Win98SE.
