I can't synchronize my pocket pc

Hi,

I have Windows Mobile 5 Ipaq 6945 Pocket Pc. It says it is connected to
the laptop which was upgraded from Windows XP to Windows Home Premium Vista.
However, I do not see it in sync center or Windows Mobile Device Center. I
even reinstalled Windows Mobile Device Center and rebooted twice. My Pocket
PC is sitting in the cradle and is connected via USB. On Pocket PC screen is
says connected however I can not see it any where in Windows Vista.
Any suggestions? I have been trying to get this to sync for two weeks.

RE: I can't synchronize my pocket pc

I've been trying to get this to work since the BETA was out and it still
doesn't work. And noone has given any rhyme nor reason as to why or a fix. I
have to keep a Windows XP machine around just so I can sync until they get
this fixed. I'd say keep an eye out for a service pack.

The ONE thing that I did before upgrading to Vista & MDC, was that I not
only deleted all
partnerships on the PC, but I also deleted all on the PPC, via the registry.
This last item is what usually saved me from all of the problems listed
above - including the "Connect as Guest Only" issue

You'll need a utility to accomplish this, I use Resco File Explorer - this
comes with a Registry Viewer/Editor.
I'm sure there are others

- navigate to HKCU/Software/Microsoft/ActiveSync/Partners
- delete EVERYTHING in this branch, leaving only an empty "Partners" key
- navigate to HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows CE Services/Partners
- delete EVERYTHING in this branch, leaving only an empty "Partners" key

connect and re-establish a new partnership again
This one step has cured more connection problems for me than any other.

Re: I can't synchronize my pocket pc

I deleted all partnerships on my PPC6700 and tried it on a brand new build of
Vista Enterprise and have the same problems. Every now and then Windows
Mobile will create a partnership, but when I try to sync, it will just sit
there for literally days with no progress.

Re: I can't synchronize my pocket pc

Does the Microsoft Active sync from windows xp cause a problem? It was on my
Windows XP when I upgraded to Windows Vista. Now I can see it in the remove
programs list in the control panel, however it does not give me the option to
delete it.

How do I get rid of Microsoft Activesync?

Please Microsoft Support, please inform me why I can not see my Pocket Pc
connection within Windows Vista. I am feeling as though Microsoft is doing
false advertising. I heard about how great synchronization was with Window
Vista, yeah right, I can't get Vista to even see my Pocket Pc. And there
seems to be no support other than this discussion room.

Re: I can't synchronize my pocket pc

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/default.mspx has a little info.
Basically Activesync is not compatible with Vista. You may need to manually
uninstall it. The Windows Installer Cleanup Utility may work.
