Switching from Japanse to English Keyboard

Hello,

Does anybody know if it is possible to switch from a Japanese keyboard
layout to English? I recently purchased a Dell PC preloaded with
Japanese windows and of course came with a Japanese keyboard. When
the system booted up for the first time it prompted me to pick the
keyboard layout (just like previous versions of JP windows) and
although I planned on getting the normal English layout keyboard when
I visit the states I picked the Japanese keyboard layout setting as
that's all I had. I'm now getting conerned that this is one of those
settings which can't be changed once set.

Shawn

That seems to be what we have previously been told.

You are running Vista Ultimate?

Re: Switching from Japanse to English Keyboard

Have you tried

Control Panel / Regional and Language Options /

and work the TABS there? That's with START in Classic mode, where I
know where things are <g>

Control Panel, under Clock, Language, and Region, select change keyboards
and other input methods. You can add other keyboard input languages there.

Thanks that help a lot, when its set to English input it works great.
Unfortunately though when its set to Japanese and I type symbols it
doesn't match what is on the english keyboard. When selecting
keyboard input language for Japanese there are many keyboard layouts
to chose from... I chose US but it still doesn't seem to use it. I
also noticed when I took out the Japanese keyboard input altogether,
the IME still displayed JP as a input selection... maybe because its
Japanese windows... <sigh>
