Andy,

Click Start, type GPEDIT.MSC and press ENTER
Navigate to:

Computer Configuration | Administrative Templates | System | Performance Control Panel

Double-click "Turn off access to teh performance center core section"
Set it to "Not configured"

Repeat the same here:

User Configuration | Administrative Templates | System | Performance Control Panel

Close GPEDIT.MSC

Hey,

Both settings were set to "not configured" but when I set them both to
Disable, it solved the problem :)

Thanks very much,

Andy.

I get nothing when I type Click Start, type GPEDIT.MSC and press ENTER so I
can't navigate to anywhere.

I found this: There is no GPEDIT.MSC in vista home or home premium.
So what do we poor smucks do?

If you are comfortable using registry editor you can find these 2 keys:

HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Performance Control
Panel!PerfCplEnabled
HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Control Panel\Performance Control
Panel!PerfCplEnabled

The data should be set to "1" for the performance page to be enabled.

HKLM stands for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and
HKCU stands for HKEY_CURRENT_USER

If you want to search for them, you could try searching for "Performance
Control Panel"

They should be there.

Andy,

Glad that helped.
Now, setting it back to "Not configured" should work also.

I'm thinking if this is intentional in x64 Vista Ultimate RTM? All others who posted about this problem are running x64.

I'm thinking if this is intentional in x64 Vista Ultimate RTM? All others
who posted about this problem are running x64.

Those registry keys do not exist in my registry – Home Premium Edition x32
I have searched the registry with the “edit-find” menu in regedit and the
keys aren’t there.
As I mentioned many posts ago, I reinstalled Vista to solve this problem as
I thought if I didn’t more problems would crop up.
This problem is not exclusive to Ultimate x64, but it seems the solution is!

If the keys aren't there then you could try creating them manually.

I'm running Home Premium x32 as well and those keys were there...and
changing the data from 0 to 1 fixed the problem for me.

Now I'm wondering why I don't have the keys in my registry.
Jason ,are you using an upgrade version of Home Premium as I am?
