Upgrading to Vista Home Premium x64 Hello! I am currently using Vista (Ultimate) RC1 x64 on one of my computers. I also own XP x64 but do not have it installed anywhere. I would like to upgrade to the final released version of Vista Home Premium x64, but it doesn't seem like there's any direct upgrade path from either RC1 x64 or XP x64. The only upgrade solution I've been able to find is on Amazon.com: buy the 32-bit upgrade version of Vista Home Premium and then, at my own expense, send that DVD to Microsoft in exchange for a DVD with the 64-bit OS on it. It really seems like there should be a simpler upgrade path than this. Please help! Thanks. Colin

Re: Upgrading to Vista Home Premium x64 Hi Colin, There isn't. The x64 disks have to be ordered for anything besides a retail Ultimate. Home Premium is seen as a downgrade in functionality from Ultimate (the RC1 version) or XP Pro, so an upgrade is not a supported function. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "Colin Wetherbee" <Colin Wetherbee@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:22BD4B4C-94EA-4DC9-B8D2-4FE3AFA2F315@microsoft.com... > Hello! > > I am currently using Vista (Ultimate) RC1 x64 on one of my computers. Thank you for your response. Let's say I'll upgrade to Ultimate, then. I've been browsing microsoft.com and other web sites, and I can't find anything to purchase that specifically says it's the 64-bit version of Vista Ultimate. Is Vista Ultimate x64 bundled with the 32-bit version, perhaps? Thank you for your continuing assistance. Colin

Re: Upgrading to Vista Home Premium x64 Colin: Ultimate (full retail or upgrade) includes 2 DVDs, the 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Also OEM versions are available but they are either 32-bit or 64-bit determined when ordering. Have a great day. -- Dennis Pack XP x64, Vista Enterprise x64 Office2007 "Colin Wetherbee" <ColinWetherbee@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:0A4E4F68-503B-448A-855C-80BE1EBEF672@microsoft.com... > "Rick Rogers" wrote: >> There isn't. You just buy the 32bit version and order the 64bit version online using your 32bit key. You just pay for shipping and handling. Still waiting for my 64bit version to arrive.
