| Turn off options Hi I have Vista Ultimate, when I go to turn it off the default option is alwayd Sleep, so sometimes, when I am in a hurry I put the PC into sleep mode, which is a pain because I do not know how to turn it on again without unplugging it from the power socket, there is no restart/reset butt on my PC, and holding the power on button in does nothing. How do I restart my PC when I have put it into sleep mode? How do I get the default tun off option to be Turn Off? thanks Daniel |

| Re: Turn off options Supposed to only have to press the power button to start it. Anyway, to change this setting: Open Control Panel, "Hardware and Sound", "Power Options" - On the left pane, select "Choose what the power buttons do". Change "When I press the power button" to "shutdown". -- /* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Robert Firth * * Windows Vista x86 RTM * * http://www.WinVistaInfo.org * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * */ "Daniel" <none@none> wrote in message news:uT9W3gtUHHA.1552@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... > Hi > > I have Vista Ultimate, when I go to turn it off the default option is > alwayd Sleep, so sometimes, when I am in a hurry I put the PC into sleep > mode, which is a pain because I do not know how to turn it on again > without unplugging it from the power socket, there is no restart/reset > butt on my PC, and holding the power on button in does nothing. > > How do I restart my PC when I have put it into sleep mode? > How do I get the default tun off option to be Turn Off? > > thanks > > Daniel > > |

My system does this if I install CA Anti-Virus on my computer. During the "sleep" process the resident AV process simply won't allow the system to power-down. (in S3 the system is almost totally powered down, only RAM remains active) Sometimes drivers will cause this as well. I'd suggest ending running processes one by one and attempting to 'sleep' the system after each and see if you can narrow it down. (Assuming you want to use the 'sleep' feature.) Mic |
