You do it when your computer's POST is finished (and before Windows starts). 1) Maker sure the boot-order in your BIOS settings is set to boot to the DVD drive FIRST. 2) Save your revised BIOS settings 3) Place the Vista DVD in the drive 4) Restart your machine 5) When a message appears on screen saying "Press any key to boot from CD/DVD", press "Enter" 6) The Vista installer will begin. 7) When the installer asks for your key, DON'T enter one. 8) Choose "Custom Installation" You should be able to take it from there.. -- Donald L McDaniel Please reply to the original newsgroup and thread. ------------------------------------------------------ |

| Re: How can i unlock vista after evaluation has blocked start up. to extend the evaluation From task manager, click File > New Taks (Run...) Type 'cmd' without the quotes. In the new command prompt, type 'slmgr -rearm' without the quotes. Interesting commands, including -rearm and -cpky. For those of you afraid that your product key might be stolen because it can be read from the registry without a UAC prompt need not fear. Run slmgr -cpky.
