Need some advice...

When I plug up my 160gig Seagate external USB drive , it pops up and says
it's installing drivers for the following:
---------------------------------------------
USB Mass Storage Device
Disk Drive
---------------------------------------------
And when it's done and both say Ready to use next to them, it isn't listed
in My Computer. I've tried going into the Disk Management utility and it
doesn't show up there either. And it does this everytime I restart. PLEASE
help!!!!

New drive?

After the drive has been detected, you have to use disk management to create
a partition and format said partition. Then the drive will be noticed and
will be available for use.

Re: Need some advice...

I believe he said it doesn't show up in disk management.

Can you verify if the drive works in another machine?

Re: Need some advice...

The Seagate external drives I use come without any partitions on them. It is
up to the user to create/format said partition. They also tell me I may have
to reboot to use the drive. After a reboot I am able to create and format a
partition using Disk Management.
