Flip 3D - lost at higher screen resolutions

Hello,

I have Vista installed on my laptop (Core Duo 1.83 GHz, 2GB ram, Intel
945GM Express Video Chipset). Flip 3D (Windows+Tab) works fine under
my screen's native resolution (1280x800) but is having trouble when I
have an external monitor hooked in - whether it be a high resolution
on the external monitor only (e.g. 1600x1200) or both monitors at a
medium resolution (1280x1024 + 1280x800).

Flip 3D starts working again with one monitor at 800x600 and another
monitor at 1024x768, or both at 800x600.

I find the same experience with both Windows+Tab and the "Switch
between windows" icon on the Quick Launch bar.

Is this just a limitation of my video controller? Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Seems like the sort of thing that would happen when you haven't got enough
video RAM. How much memory is allocated to the GPU on your laptop?

Re: Flip 3D - lost at higher screen resolutions

1) I noticed that I had lost all Aero functionality. I went to my
display settings, set Aero as my theme and was good to go.

2) Minutes after I discovered #1, I noticed I now couldn't go any
higher than 1280x1024 on my external monitor without a large black
strip showing in the middle. It acts like my video card and display
aren't talking together correctly and the black area represents the
"sides" of the screen...I the far right side of my desktop is on the
far left and the rest shows on the right. Hope that makes sense.

3) Total graphics memory: 224mb. System: 32mb. Shared: 192mb.

Anyone else experiencing anything similar?
