Windows AnyTime Upgrade? Question

Hello,

I just recieved a new Dell Computer with Vista Home Basic on it. I have a
retail version of Windows Vista Ultimate, so can I pop in the Windows AnyTime
Upgrade disk, type in my CD-KEY, and upgrade?? Or will I have to do a clean
install with my Windows Vista Ultimate??

Thanks

Re: Windows AnyTime Upgrade? Question

Your retail DVD is not the same as Windows Anytime Upgrade.
If you want to use Windows Anytime Upgrade:

To use your retail DVD, insert it and follow the prompts to upgrade.
You will need to use retail Ultimate key.

i thought i heard that if you buy the ultimate version you would be able to
buy the premium times 2 at $50 a go, is that true?

Re: Windows AnyTime Upgrade? Question

Not quite. There is a Family Upgrade offering that lets you buy two
additional Vista Home Premium licenses for $50 each after you buy a retail
copy of Vista Ultimate. That is true, and these two additional copies will
be upgrade copies to use on other computers in your home.
