Does Windows Defender needed?

Hi,

Now, I'm using NOD32 as my anti-virus software. But, I'm wondering
that I still have to turn on real time checking options of Windows
Defender. Do you recommend to disable or enable Windows Defender even
if I'm using my own anti-virus software?

Thanks

As I understand it Windows Defender is primarily anti-spyware, rather than
anti-virus. You'd have to check whether nod32 also checks for spyware.

Probably advisable to have at least one real-time spyware detector running.

Having multiple spyware detectors is generally pretty good, but having them
all running at the same time would be a resource hog. You could set Defender
to do periodic scans, if you do decide to uncheck the real time protection
option.

Re: Does Windows Defender needed?

Absolutely. Defender is not antivirus software and it will nicely
complement whatever else you have.

The two programs target different malware. NOD32 is for viruses, Defender
is for non viral malware. Run them both. I recommend you also run a couple
of other anti-malware apps that target non viral malware. No one program
catches it all. Look at Adaware SE Personal and Spybot S&D. Both are free.
