| Does Windows Defender needed? Hi, Now, I'm using NOD32 as my anti-virus software. But, I'm wondering that I still have to turn on real time checking options of Windows Defender. Do you recommend to disable or enable Windows Defender even if I'm using my own anti-virus software? Thanks |

You'd have to check whether nod32 also checks for spyware. Probably advisable to have at least one real-time spyware detector running. Having multiple spyware detectors is generally pretty good, but having them all running at the same time would be a resource hog. You could set Defender to do periodic scans, if you do decide to uncheck the real time protection option. -- Jon |

NOD32 is for viruses, Defender is for non viral malware. Run them both. I recommend you also run a couple of other anti-malware apps that target non viral malware. No one program catches it all. Look at Adaware SE Personal and Spybot S&D. Both are free. -- Rock [MS-MVP User/Shell] |
