Windows Photo Gallery displaying images as 2(?) bit.

I'm using Vista Home Premium and Windows Photo Gallery is showing all images
as (I think) 2 bit images. That is, picture highlights as light blue on a
white background. Thumbnails are ok, as are the images shown in slideshow
mode. Doesn't matter what images I try, even newly drawn ones made in Paint,
they are all the same. I've tried clean Vista installs, update installs from
XP Home, but get the same result.
Other posts describe different but similar problems. I don't know what to
try next. Does anyone have any ideas? Ta.

An ATI Radion 9600XT (GC-R96XTG).
I've tried installing the latest Vista drivers for it from the ATI site.

Re: Windows Photo Gallery displaying images as 2(?) bit.

The problem I described has righted itself somehow. I'm assuming that an
automatic update has fixed it (shrug).
Thanks for your interest, anyway.
