Programs Wont Launch When Clicked on in Start Menu

I am having a problem when clicking Start and then trying to launch any
program from the recent menu list. Now when I click on the program nothing
happens and the only way to get the program to run is to goto START/ ALL
PROGRAMS and then find the program and click on it. I will then start. And
this is not with all programs either, just random programs. I have also
found if I type the name of the program that didnt start in the SEARCH option
and click on it from there, it will not start either. I MUST go to it from
START/ALL PROGRAMS...

Please any help would be appreciated. Thanks

RE: Programs Wont Launch When Clicked on in Start Menu

Hello Randomhero,

Will you share additional specific details regarding the conflicts that you
described?

Have you added things to Vista as third party programs as; spyware,
anti-virus, and other similar third party applications?

Two suggestions: 1) provide additional specific details, 2) If you have
added third party programs remove thoses applications for determining if they
are the source for your conflict issue.

What you described appears as a serious driver conflict issue; better
expressed, third party drivers that are not compatiable with Vista.

If you will provide additional specific details likely that will
self-generate responses for your sincere question.

RE: Programs Wont Launch When Clicked on in Start Menu

Thanks for the reply. I have reallt only installed a handfull of programs
since installing vista. Nero 6, MS Office, Zune software, Firefox.... I
would think all these popular programs should run fine without causing such a
problem within vista? I do need these programs so running vista without
being able to run such programs will not be possible. Any other suggestions?
Different programs that I could try that run without conflict in vista?

Thanks anyways

Re: Programs Wont Launch When Clicked on in Start Menu

I am experiencing similar problems. I cannot launch certain
applications from the Vista start menu (quick launch) but I can if I
navigate to the appropriate program folder on the start menu. This
seems to happen with different applications. I know for a fact that
my Office Suite does not launch from the Start menu but yet some built
in applications like Paint do launch. I'm unsure if this is simply a
pointer issue or something more serious.

Please help me out. Thanks.

BTW, I have scanned through several forums and have not come with the
solution. If there are any that you know of, please let me know.

Re: Programs Wont Launch When Clicked on in Start Menu

No I have not installed Zilla Data Nuker. The programs launch if I
navigate through the Start Menu to the program files. The Programs
work but they do not start if I were to click at their icons on the
Quick Launch. I have not modified the executables the icons are
pointing to. They just do not seem to work when I click on them.

Please help. Thanks!

Same problem here... Fresh install only running a few days. Does this have
anything to do with running different versions of Windows projects (e.g.,
Word 2000 with Outlook 2003)?

Re: Programs Wont Launch When Clicked on in Start Menu

Hi,

May I Offer Vista Start Menu program -
http://www.vistastartmenu.com

With this program I forget about problems with menu. Actualy I forget
about
start menu(I just run any program and don't think how to do it), all
simple, all works.
Also you don't need scroll programs list all the time...

Try it.

RE: Programs Wont Launch When Clicked on in Start Menu

Solution is that there is a shell context Menu conflict with another program
installed on your system. Do "Method 2" from the following web site to fix
the problem!

Re: Programs Wont Launch When Clicked on in Start Menu

I performed the troubleshooting above and in my first half of Context
menu entries I diisabled Bitzippers BitzipperShellExt . That solved
by problem! Praise the Lord! I noticed that ShellExView did not say
that BitzipperShellExt as a Vista version. So look for entries that
do not have Vista on them. Hope this helps!

Compliments!!!
