Vista Enterprise to Ultimate

Hello...

I've been testing Vista with the Enterprise edition at home and I now want
to get my own copy and I am choosing Ultimate. Can I just buy Ultimate and
insert the new key or will I need to completely uninstall?

Thanks,
Brian

Re: Vista Enterprise to Ultimate

You would need to purchase a "Full Version" of Windows Vista Ultimate
and then perform a "clean install".

1) Where did you get an Enterprise key?
2) ALL versions of Vista are on the SAME DVD. Each version is unlocked by
the correct key.
3) ALL one needs to do to unlock his purchased version is enter the correct
key for it. If you don't have this key, you will have to buy a copy of
Vista, and use it to unlock your particular version.

Won't a Vista Ultimate Upgrade work?

Re: Vista Enterprise to Ultimate

Vista Enterprise is NOT on the Ultimate DVD. I can't tell you what the
difference in the bits is, only that they are different. You cannot install
Vista Enterprise with anything but the Vista Enterprise DVD's.

I know this doesn't answer the question of if a copy of Enterprise can be
upgraded with Ultimate. I'll let others weigh in on this.

Then I guess he will have to purchase and Enterprise Edition DVD. Of
course, these are not available to the general public. They are only
available to those who have a servicing agreement with Microsoft. I don't
believe they are available as singles.

Of course, I could be wrong. After all, according to you, I was wrong with
my last post.

Re: Vista Enterprise to Ultimate

Vista Enterprise is only available to Volume License customers which can be
had with a minimum purchase of 5 licenses. You won't find any form of it for
sale through any of the retail channels.
