System Restore points missing.

Has anyone noticed that system restore is no longer making restore points so
that you can roll back to before you installed something that didnt work? I
remember seeing system restore create a restore point before installing, but
when I want to roll back, it says "There is no system restore point
available" and asks if I want to create a restore point... Is this a bug or
feature? I remember always seeing at least 1 restore point to the first time
you boot up the computer before installing everything else?

Any ideas how to be able to do a rollback with system restore point would
be appreciated :)

Thanks.

Are you dual booting with XP?

Search this newsgroup for "volsnap.sys".

Re: System Restore points missing.

System restore is working fine for me. However, if you dual boot, i.e., you
have XP and Vista on the system, when you boot to XP the system restore
points on Vista are deleted. This is a known issue which, apparently, will
not be fixed. Only way round the problem, if you dual boot, is to use a
third party boot manager instead of Vista's boot manager or, if you have
Ultimate edition, use bitlocker encryption.
