urgent

hi, a language question. my new computer is not in english. going thru
setup, on the very first page there are three drop-down menus, the first one
is country, what is the second one??? seems to be a question about languages,
but i'm not sure exactly what... is this a chance to choose english as my OS
language?

No. All MS operating systems come in only one language. If you want an
operating system that lets you choose the language at set up, get a
Linux Live CD like Ubuntu.

No, what gave you that idea? What, exactly, about my post do you
disagree with that led you to this erroneous conclusion?

People all over the world use XP, 98, ME (YUK), 2000, etc.... and not
everyone speaks English!

Since when did windows only come in one language? They sell it all over the
world, I doubt the entire planet speaks english.

If your in windows press F1 and type in language and it will give you
directions on how to get to Regional and Language Options. You can change
the language from there...

You misunderstood me. I meant to say that each version only has one
language. If you want Windows in two languages, you gotta buy two copies
of Windows. Get it now?

I meant that if you buy a copy of Windows in whatever language, you do
not get to choose another language when you install it; it will only
install one language. One language per copy. With Ubuntu, the CD has all
the languages in the world to choose from when you install it. See the
difference now?

They sell it all over[color=blue]

Never said that.

No, you can't. You can change the time, keyboard, etc. but the Start
button, if the copy of Windows is English, will always read "Start" no
matter what you do.

Yeah but he wasn't asking about the English language, did you read the

Re: urgent

You can change the language at any time including the menus.

Here's a copy of the Windows Vista Help:

"Install a display language

You can change the language Windows uses to display text in wizards, dialog
boxes, menus, and other items in the user interface. Some display languages
are installed by default; others require you to install additional language
files.

Before you can install a display language, you need access to the language
files. These files can be on your computer, on a computer on your network,
or on your Windows DVD; or they can be downloaded from the web. For more
information, see How do I get additional language files?"

Not only is it pathetic he keeps suggesting Ubuntu but he has never even run
or seen Vista and keeps giving advice to people who actually are running
Vista.

Really sick.
