| Re: windows vista on a loptop the fn key doesnt work because you dont have drivers installed for it. if you cant control brightness in the bios, and theres no driver for your laptop/keyboard, theres nothing you can do "Anthony" <Anthony@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:78C152F0-F8C9-40BE-93FA-206FAD9F48D5@microsoft.com... > Hi, > i need help with the birghtness of my laptop i cant find anyway to turn > the > brightness down at all the FN key doesn't work and windows vista doesn't > seem > to have any software that can help or do they ? im using a toshiba A100 > australian version i have searched the toshiba site and found nothing > should > i cant even look at my monitor its that bright so please help me out if > you > can this is very important to me as i need to use my laptop asap > > Thanks > |

| Re: windows vista on a loptop huh? wow you really are dumb. have you ever owned a laptop? the FN keys that control brightness wont work if the OS doesnt have the right driver... is that over your head? my thinkpad didnt work for a while... just got the latest driver, all works fine. see how that works? | Re: windows vista on a loptop Anthony: For the FN function to work the drivers have to be installed. The Vista drivers for the US version of the A100 are at http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_sc_modItemList.jsp. In some cases where the Vista drivers aren't available the XP drivers will work. | RE: windows vista on a loptop you should try going to your start menu, then click on 'control panels', and then on the top right, type in the search box 'brightness' and it should bring you to the windows mobility center (adjust screen brightness). There you can adjust the screen to be a little brighter. Your FN key should work, try holding it down at the same time when hold down the up and down keys(which should have a pic. of a sun) if the FN key doesn't work, you should get the computer checked out, especially if you have a warranty on it still -- Francine J.
