Many programs not responding

Hey all,
recently my old charger broke, so i replaced it, with a old charger,
made by a different company, over the last couple of weeks, the laptop
has been running out of battery and shutting down alot, causing a bit of
weirdness. after a while it happened. for a while it wasn't running
properly, now i have turned it on. it said some crap which i failed to
read before start up. now programs like windows live messenger, itunes,
bearshare, all come up with this program has stopped working. i
uninstalled itunes and the same thing happened, quicktime doesn't work,
no program does when i tell it to play music.
so i NEED help

Re: Many programs not responding

You're asking a question for which you know an answer.
But if you don't believe yourself, LOL, here's a hint:

The new charger and/or battery no longer provide adequate charging current
and/or battery is dying.
While non-intensive software e.g. wordprocessing are still able to run,
multimedia e.g. music/video which put significant load on system
(microprocessor, memory & disk operations) push it to the brink of
suffocation.

Hence your system sense near-discharge state of battery and shuts it down
for your own good.

Get a real working ACpower adapter, plug into wall outlet and see if problem
goes away.
No offense meant, but it's pretty obvious.

By using a battery charger not designed for your particular computer, you
may well have damaged the circuitry in your PC. In any case, the shutdowns
you describe may well have caused data and program file corruption on your
hard drive, leading to the problems you describe.
1. You need to solve your power problem by either purchasing a correct
charger and/or battery (your current battery may be damaged).
2. To correct the software problems, you will probably have to format your
drive and reinstall the OS, or restore the factory configuration from your
recovery partition, if you have one.
Before you do any of the above, does your PC work correctly when plugged
into a wall outlet?
