| Service pack 2 will not install on Vista I am trying to install Service Pack 2 on Vista, but it just will not install on my laptop. I have tried all the solutions that are given on the help, such as using the readiness tool, stand alone installation, uninstalling McAfee, etc. with no luck. The installation goes through steps 1 and 2 fine, then gets to 100 % on step 3, bu then it gives me a message "Service pack did not install, Reverting Changes" and after about a hour, I get back into Vista, where it gives me a message that installation was unsuccessful and under the details its says: ERROR_SERVICE_CANNOT_ACCEPT_CTRL (0x80070425) I am using a Dell Inspiron 9400. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Ian. -- IanEvs79 Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

| RE: Service pack 2 will not install on Vista First, remove all your viruses. Do not use Windows Defender- use an actual anti-virus program like AVG or AdAware (I don't recommend either Norton or Symantec, as their anti-virus software is really just another form of adware, and once it's on your computer, it's almost impossible to remove. You use Windows, so I can guarantee you get a virus at least once a week. After removing Vundo or whatever virus/bot, try again. If the OP uses AVG or AVAST and updates it on a regular basis, they won't be getting viruses. You say they would get a virus guaranteed at least once a week. Probably that would be someone like YOU who has no clue how Windows works. Stick with Ubuntu/Linux because that's your speed. Get with Alias, you will like him. He's an idiot like yourself. |

As long as McAfee is now uninstalled... got time to install another AV and run a full scan. It will at least settle that question |
