| $Recycle.Bin Is Protected When you empty files from the Recycle Bin, they get placed in C:\$Recycle.Bin and the folder is hidden away. But I am trying to get into the folder so I can retrieve a file that I accidently deleted, but when I try to go into the folder I get this pop-up. How can I get into the folder if any account on windows is blocked from viewing it? Location is not available C:\$Recycle.Bin\S-1-5-21-7200(more numbers) is not accessible. Access is denied. | Re: $Recycle.Bin Is Protected You don't directly access the Recycle Bin folder - you access the Recycle Bin to restore files. What you need to do is access it with admin rights, and change the security settings for it. As for any account being blocked from viewing it, that's also wrong. The account with access to that folder is 'S-1-5-21-7200(more numbers)'. You need to change the owner of that folder to you. Also once you get in there, ifit's deleted, it's in no form to be useful, unless you have a program that canmove it to the recycle bin, or find an undelete program that can recover it directly from that folder. Whole lot of problems, not the least being finding the right file to undelete. What you need to learn is the basics of computing. Make 3 backups of anything important. 1 backup separate from the machine the original data and backup are on. You are left with 2 options right now. Learn how to restore it.. or pay someone to restore it for you. The second option, not being a realistic option unless you can swear to yourself there's nothing now or ever has been anything incriminating on your machine. And I doubt there's anyone that has ever used a web browser on the web that can honestly say their machine is clean of anything incriminating. IOW: How much time do you have to spend in court defending yourself against something you may have no idea of how it got on your machine ? Some of the stuff I've found in the invisible temp browser folders have told me that if something goes wrong with my drive, it gets crushed by a tank before it goes to a shop for repair. I think this mentality may be one of the virus propagators motivations in sending out virus. Destroy your machine. Do you see popup's that you have no control of ? How much control over the data in those popup's did you have ? Those popup's are now on your machine somewhere. Backup, backup, backup... |
