Sound Recorder

Using the sound recorder, how do I save a file in the *.wav format. My
manual says I have a choice of WMA or WAV - but the recorder only gives
me WMA as the option.

as a *.wma?

I tried that in Vista Home Premium. No matter what you name it, the file is
still WMA format.

Re: Sound Recorder

From the help file it indicates Vista Home Premium saves as a WMA file and
other versions of Vista saves as a WAV file.

Re: Sound Recorder

OK, I installed Audacity - great tip. Thanks for the other responses
to my post also.

One more question: Since system sounds play immediately, what window
app plays them?

Re: Sound Recorder

I don't believe there is a specific app but you can choose the sounds you
like for specific events.

Doesn't there HAVE to be an app/applet to play sound files?

Re: Sound Recorder

I just tried it and by default it was played by WMP.

If you would like to try a diiferent app here's a link to a freeware WAV
