| Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor Am running Vista Premium (pre-installed) on my computer which was purchased in June 2007. I am now thinking of updating to Windows 7 but here lies the problem. Have today downloaded the Windows 7 Update Advisor to check my computer but when i tried running the programme it came up with the following message * Windows 7 Update Advisor was unable to reach the Microsoft server for compatability information. Check your internet connection and try again later *. Now i may not be up in the world of computer technology but can anybody explain why this should happen when i can send this email from my own pc via the internet? Would it possibly have anything to do with the fact that the pc keeps refusing to install 2 updates these being; 1) Service Pack 2 & 2) Net Framework packs 3.5 Also some months ago i lost the * Adjust Time/Date facility * but have not missed it all that much since it is rarely used. Any help in resolving these issues would be greatly appreciated. -- tammy55 Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

You might disable these and try again. For sure if you are going to use vista you want SP2. I don't know that I would have paid full price for the upgrade from Vista to Win 7, but you may. |

| Re: Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor You need to work out why the update isnt working before you try installing anything If you manually run MSUpdate, then review updates, there will be a '?' icon next to any failed update, clicking this may lead to an explanation "totfit" <totfit@NOSPAMnewsguy.com> wrote in message news:lhtdf55qbus6rm9v9fst7ehkmh7aepe75s@4ax.com... > On Sun, 8 Nov 2009 16:24:37 +0000, tammy55 > <tammy55.41cc83@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote: > >> >> >>Am running Vista Premium (pre-installed) on my computer which was >>purchased in June 2007.
