How to delete Search Box AutoComplete information

A lot of times when I am surfing the web I come to a site that has an
information search box. When I click inside of it there is often a window
that pops up showing all my previous queries and entries. What is the name
of that kind of box, and more importantly, how do I delete the contents of
the box??

It's a drop-down list, IIRC. They are used all over Windows...This one
might be called a history list also, since that's what it's used for.

This works for me, for some history lists: use the down arrow to highlight
an entry and press the delete key. I know of no way to delete several
entries simultaneously.

Hi,

Tools/Options/Content tab, click on the box for autocomplete settings.

Hi Rick. I didn't get to try your suggestion until a few minutes ago. It
worked great, and really fast too. Thanks a bunch.

Re: How to delete Search Box AutoComplete information

Thank you Gene. I tried that out right away and your method works great.
Rick Rogers also replied with a system based solution to the problem and I
didn't get to try it until today. It also works so you might want to read
that too.

Re: How to delete Search Box AutoComplete information

You're more than welcome. I'm glad it worked & glad you told me, since I
wasn't totally sure.

Thanks for pointing me to Rick's suggestion. I had already looked at it
when he posted it; however, I'm using Firefox and couldn't find the
Autocomplete settings. I even looked in other places besides where Rick
pointed.

They might be there, it might be a PEBCAK here :-)
