| Re: Slow computer - what to do? Hello, Most probably your nephew's system will be having registry problems. You should try out with a registry cleaner because the registry cleaner is a type of software utility designed for the MS Windows operating system whose purpose is to remove redundant or unwanted items from the Windows registry. -- jwillnov09 'Windows Vista Registry Cleaner' (http://www.registrycleanergeeks.com/vista/) Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com |

| Re: Slow computer - what to do? No, no, no, no, no. Bad idea, bad advice. Registry cleaners are the last thing you would want to do, you might as well hammer a screwdriver through the hard drive. If your car is not running well, do you open the hood and yank out wires? Two things: a) there are redundant entries for a reason, and b) dead entries do NOT inhibit performance, they do NOTHING. A slow system is normally the result of bloatware and crap loading as part of the startup axis. The solution is to limit that which loads at boot to only what's really necessary. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "jwillnov09" <jwillnov09.412b45@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com> wrote in message news:jwillnov09.412b45@no-mx.forums.vistaheads.com... > > Hello, > > Most probably your nephew's system will be having registry > problems. You should try > > out with a registry cleaner because the registry cleaner is a type of > software utility > > designed for the MS Windows operating system whose purpose is to remove > redundant > > or unwanted items from the Windows registry. > > > -- > jwillnov09 > > 'Windows Vista Registry Cleaner' > (http://www.registrycleanergeeks.com/vista/) > Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com > |

| Re: Slow computer - what to do? So called registry cleaners that claim to be automatic are simply dangerous, if a specific issue in the registry occurs there's usually a Microsoft KB article on the subject and that is the only safe way to go, one thing at a time. Running ScanDisk can help and Mark Russinovich wrote the "Engine" behind PowerDefragmenter which also seems to help and that's the only two "Automated" methods I ever use.
