| Microsoft Vs. Linux Over the last 15 yeas or so, Linux was always going to take over the desktop. From Windows 3.11, win95, win98, winme, etc, etc...Eventually I go to dislike 3.11 and start to use OS/2. I thought that would have taken off, except I couldn't play freaking games on OS/2. I would either have to use win-os/2 or duel boot back into DOS. When Windows95 came out, it killed OS/2 and I just learned to live with it. The only real threat Microsoft has today is MAC, and if you really consider that a real threat. Every so often I download a distro, UBOOBOO (Sorry Alias, couldn't resist) , RedHat Mandrake, Slackware, and so on; and so on; and try to make it work, but in reality it doesn't work for the average user. I load it and remove it after a few days... I can't play *real* games, and I really can't use it in the business world for what I do. I can run open office, ok thanks! You really need to be a techy and you really need to put a lot of time and effort in making it work! (and I mean; A LOT OF TIME). Even when you get it to work, you will always find some type of incomparability or a program that you have to compile to make it just right. Microsoft, on the other hand just run setup or install, and it pretty much runs out of the box. Less than 5% of the time I'm look for some other alternative to do an install. They make it very easy for the average user to run, maintain and use their OS. Microsoft has their issues and there will always be anti Microsoft people out there. Who knows if MS will ever work them out. I liked windows XP, not a big fan of Vista, but made it work, loving Windows7. BTW - Thanks for the laughs, I have this group up on my third monitor at work, and while I do my daily functions, I glance over, do a quick read and have a good laugh... WaterBoy |

Always in the gutter yet you complain that others are causing MS to switch forums because of the trash talk. The trash talk starts with you.
