SP2 install for Vista 64-bit

I have received numerous contacts via Windows Update about installing SP2
for my two 32-bit Vista platforms. I have seen on the Microsoft download
site that a SP2 version for Vista 64-bit is also available, but Windows
Update has never notified me about same. Is that because the 64-bit version
of Vista does not require as many patches, and therefore the SP can be
ignored?

Thanks, Michael. Didn't know that forum even existed. I will watch there
for any follow-up.

Re: SP2 install for Vista 64-bit

There seems to be some issue with getting sp2 offered by WU for Vista x64.

See recent threads in microsoft.public.windowsupdate with the following
subjects:
Vista SP2 Not Offered
KB 954430 keeps installing KB954430

and this thread in the MS Vista Update Forum:

You're not alone with this issue of SP2 not being offered to Vista SP1
x64 systems. See the last post in this thread:

SP2 install for Vista 64-bit

Thanks for the reference.

I downloaded the standalone version and installed it without a problem.
