Windows 7 upgrade paralyzes some PCs

http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9139879/Windows_7_upgrade_paralyzes_some_PCs_with_endless_reboots

Not a good way to start things off ... course Windows users are used to
having to reboot but not constantly!

Re: Windows 7 upgrade paralyzes some PCs

It's probably quite rare. This is an example of part of the reason why
Thurrott and many others say a clean install is better than an upgrade.
Anyway .. apparently these are isolated incidents - probably equipment
failure e.g. faulty harddrives - but by way far, the vast majority of
people are having immediate success.

Don't cry Alias because there is a simple explanation. I know this is a
difficult time for you. Every ten minutes or so more people install Windows
7 than the entire Ubuntu base. You must feel hurt and are grasping at straws
like this news story to find anything, anything(?!), anything(?!!!) negative
about the Windows 7 roll out. Yet this is it, bascially. 'Must hurt, mm hm.
If you provide a post office box I will send you a case of Kleenex.

The worst case scenario for an upgrade install usually end up taking much
more time than one originally wanted to save in addition to interruption of
work. The worst case scenario for a clean install is to put back the
original HDD and life goes on.

You're an idiot. I posted this for the benefit of those contemplating an
upgrade install.

I use XP. I will be using Windows 7. I am not crying. I will do a clean
install.

BULL****. You can't read. I even posted some here yesterday regarding that
crappy OS. You just refuse to read them. Oops.

WRONG - Take a look at the forums. Thousands of posts. Oops you are lying
again.

I just proved you wrong. Of course you will deny it. The Ubuntu forums are
full of problems. They are there in black and white and you disagree.
Sorry. You lose again.

Windows 7 paralyzes some posters
leaves them talking to themselves
which is of course nothing unusual but then again, what does one learn when
wandering the streets of netnewsland jabberin' to oneself? That life is a
lonely place when EGO has backed them onto a floppy in a terrabyte world?

does linux need you
do you need linux

So, since your post 10 hours ago, 60 million people have installed Windows
7 !?!?!?!? (That's assuming only 1 million Ubuntu install base.)

That's a little optomistic, don't you think ?

Considering they never even sell close to 60 million retail copies of any
OS. We know that 90% of MS OS sales are pre-installed OEM versions.

Maybe one million have downloaded that INFERIOR Ubuntu, but I would say
about 12,000 actually use it.

Yep, that's why I always clean install, and clean install my client's
computers. Why go through all the trouble upgrading, just to have to do
it all over again should the upgrade fail. My time is too precious to be
doing things twice that could have easily been done once.

G'day
