| Infinitely Recursive Directory Problem Folks- I run Windows Vista/SP2 Home Premium on a DELL XPS1730 Laptop. I have a problem which may be related to Windows being unable to come up on my system following a DELL MEDIA DIRECT update. I am using DOS command prompt RoboCopy to copy my files to a backup device and have encounterd an infinitely recursive directory. The directory in question is "C:\users\All Users". "All Users" is not shown as either a hidden or unhidden directory so I assume this is a result of a [junction] reference. The copy proceeds as follows: c:\users\All Users\Application Data\Adobe c:\users\All users\Application Data\...(remaining directories) c:\users\All Users\Application Data\Application Data\Adobe c:\users\All users\Application Data\Application Data\...(remaining directories) c:\users\All Users\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\Adobe c:\users\All Users\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\...(remaining directories) c:\users\All Users\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\Adobe c:\users\All Users\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\Application Data\...(remaining directories) ....etc ....etc Is there a way to determine exactly what is triggering the recursive directory loop and nullify it from the DOS command prompt? I'd like to try something that might save me having to do a full system restore and re-creation. If there is no way to "fix" the existing directory structure does it sound reasonable to copy the problem directory (16GB of directories and files) with the "exclude directory junctions" parameter and then replace the existing problem directory with the copy? -Gary |
