| DcomLaunch????? Hi, In trying to resolve my computer being so slow on startup I download and ran "Process Explorer" and noticed that about 2 minutes after I start my computer there is a process "SVCHOST" running that uses about 50% CPU. The services under that process is "DcomLaunch" and "PlugPlay". What are these services and why are they eating up so much CPU time? Your help would be appreciated. Thanks, Phil -- Phil |

PlugPlay has to do with pug and play and DCOM is the Distributed Component Object Model. They need to find a lot of things to get the OS going. Svchost is a catchall that runs lots of programs. You can find a lot of simultaneous instances of svchost running various modules. -- Gene E. Bloch letters0x40blochg0x2Ecom |
