| How to install stuff with Ubuntu You want to install software using Ubuntu? This will drive you crazy Synaptic is a graphical front-end to apt, the package management system in Ubuntu. It combines the point-and-click simplicity of the graphical user interface with the power of the apt-get command line tool. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SynapticHowto#What is Synaptic With windows, insert the CD or DVD and it autostarts. If not, you can click SETUP on the media. then click next and it installs. No command lines. No wonder why 99.999999% of the users reject Ubuntu as garbage. It is garbage. Bye bye Ubuntu Microsoft to the rescue. |

You can also d/l a .deb or .rpm package and double-click it. > With windows, insert the CD or DVD and it autostarts. I haven't yet found one that lists the actual programs available and what they do. I prefer to know that before I choose what to install. Next, I'd like to know the step-by-step to update, upgrade, etc., compared to Windows, please. -- msnews.microsoft.com |
