If they repackage it as Win 7 with some fixes then they can try to re-push it to businesses. It still will not work because your average business desktop systems are already overloaded with AV and adding a heavy OS makes then unproductive. So they still have to buy new machines which is one of Vista's big limitations. Why buy a business Win 7/Vista PC for $1500++ in HW and another $1000 in SW when XP on the old system does just fine? So unless Win 7 has some big performance/reliability improvements, it soon will just replace Vista as a dog. |

| Re: Is windows 7 just Vista with sp2 installed? My 2 cents, This question has been asked many times, and my personal view is that it is in a sense that every new product within the same product line is a revision/improvement of its predecessor. So it can be called as a service pack as well. Other people are also concern about the kernel version number, but in real life, too many products share the same core components (such as ingredients, formulas, and engines, etc.), and yet, they are still different products because, for example, an engine is just one part of an automobile from both performance and user experience's perspective. So, what's really important is how do you feel about the product and if it can be useful to you. Don't worry too much about the version number, which by itself, is meaningless. Good luck. I am not talking about 32 bit drivers for 32 bit system. Geeze. I do know 32 bit drivers wont normally work on a 64 bit machine without a hack. I have old hardware that may not have 64 bit drivers. Most preinstalled system W7 are 64 bit not 32 bit. Here is my list my hardware. That requires drivers. I am using at 32 bit xp machine know,. I have an Emachine CRT VGA monitor. (Best for my eyes). I have Hp deskjet 3740 printer I have an agree system pci dial-up modem. (Computer Associates defunct company) It does work in xp. Greg |

| Re: Is windows 7 just Vista with sp2 installed? Greg ..please see this article from HP on your printer.. It should explain and also help with your problem I believe http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01874792&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=401496&lang=en I am sure after reading this you will get it working, maybe not to its fullest extent but never the less being able to print.. Hope this helps a little. People need to read post better. I don't have a W7 computer. Most preinstalled systems you buy at the store are W7 64 bit not W7 32 bit. I would like to keep my printer, my modem, and my network card working in windows 7. Again, here is the hardware. That is what I want to use with windows 7. I have an Emachine CRT VGA monitor. (Best for my eyes). I have Hp deskjet 3740 printer I have an agree system pci dial-up modem. (Computer Associates defunct company) It does work in xp. Compaq NC3120 Fast ETHERNET NIC pci card. Greg |
