Re: Windows 7

There are a bunch of online forums but no public english newsgroup on the
msnews.microsoft.com newsgroup server. I'm hoping they get a Windows 7
newsgroup up soon too.

Re: Windows 7

Well they should get a move on. AFAICT, Windows Live Mail comes with a
Microsoft newsserver account preloaded. When they start installing Windows 7
they will be downloading Windows Live Mail and .. and then what when they go
to look up the Windows 7 newsgroup should they have a question?

You're saying that as if the question is *when* it will happen.
Unfortunately, the real question is *whether*, and as time passes, it
looks more and more like it will never happen.

To go from plain text newsgrouping to kisses, and buzzes, avatars, bells,
medals, huge illustrated signatures, awards, pets, votes, popularity
thermometers, and so on .. seems a little undignified to me.

I'm perhaps not as concerned with how dignified it is as you are, but
I like newsgroups simply because I can participate in *much* less time
that I can on any web-based forum.

You can't find one, as far as anyone knows. Microsoft isn't planning to
make one. It doesn't look good for the future of this newsserver if that
is the case.

With all the problems, they're going to need it!

the header.

And can views messages in a proper hierarchy, in which you can actually
tell who is replying to what and where. This is the single most annoying
thing about most web forums.

And filter(*some* news clients).

I dislike the navigation and the fact that threads aren't threaded (in most
forums I've used). But if I get 7, and there's no newsgroup by then, I'll
just have to suck it up.
