Registry Errors Found. How to Fix?

Hi,

My registry scan turned up 7 errors with MS OneCare Safety Scanner (Vista
version). The "fix" procedure apparently didn't fix anything because a
re-scan turned up the same errors. What should I do now?

Thanks,

Roy

Re: Registry Errors Found. How to Fix?

What you should do now is the following

(1) Do not touch the Registry and leave those entries alone. They will do no harm.
(2) Do not touch the Registry and leave those entries alone. They will do no harm
(3) Do not touch the Registry and leave those entries alone. They will do no harm

etc
etc
etc

Re: Registry Errors Found. How to Fix?

Actually, I have reason to believe one or more of the errors may be doing
harm. That's why I ran the scan in the first place.
Five of the errors relate to file associations, and I think I may have a
file association problem (if still accessible, see thread "Can't save HTML
file" started on 09/16/2009 12:55 PM and/or "Unable to save HTML" file
started on 09/17/2009 12:51 PM ).

Re: Registry Errors Found. How to Fix?

Please see my last post. My problem with HTML editing still hasn't been
solved, and I'm wondering if the registry errors may be related.

You can ignore the Chrome entry.
1171A62F-05D2-11D1-83FC-00A0C9089C5A is something to do with Macromedia Flash.

These keys are from my registry, the first 3 are Windows Media Player 11:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.wmd\UserChoice]
"Progid"="WMP11.AssocFile.WMD"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.wms\UserChoice]
"Progid"="WMP11.AssocFile.WMS"

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.wmz\UserChoice]
"Progid"="WMP11.AssocFile.WMZ"

I have no entries anywhere for .xht

There is no .xhtml in the above Explorer\FileExts\ branch but I have it
listed as a file mask for EditPadPro:
(I think you said that you use Notepad++ so your entries will obviously be different.)

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JGsoft\EditPadPro6\EPPrefs\FT3]
"Description"="XML file"
"FileMasks"="*.xml;*.dtd;*.xhtml;*.xsl;*.xslt;*.xsd"

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3357198136-2475312760-2064407345-1000\Software\JGsoft\EditPadPro6\EPPrefs\FT3]
"Description"="XML file"
"FileMasks"="*.xml;*.dtd;*.xhtml;*.xsl;*.xslt;*.xsd"

I think your problem is related to the .xht and .xhtml extensions.
