UAC

I created a shortcut on the desktop to access a network drive. I am
asked to confirm I want to run it. After using Google, it says to
turn off UAC. I did and it still get a confirmation box.

Here is a screen shot.

I was not against UAC stopping first run programs, but why does it not
have an "Don't ask again" box?

In case it's not you starting it next time, which is what it's actually
checking the first time.

The dialog in the linked image is not the UAC prompt.

Open file - Security Warning appears when you run a file from network share:
