USB is slow with Ubuntu? Can't be. Alias said Ubuntu is perfect (HA HA HA HA)

Slow USB and SATA Transfer Speeds in Jaunty 9.04

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Since installing Ubuntu 9.04 I noticed USB and Hard Drive transfers are not
very fast. I'm transferring 15gb to an external HDD right now and it's going
about 4MB a sec. At first it starts at 25MB/sec then it just slows down to a
crawl.

I've been following this thread and this is exactly whats going on:

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1112701

I have tried mounting the external usb HDD with -o sync or -o async and
even -o nosync and the only thing they do is increase the initial "burst"
speed but the transfer rate still slows to a crawl after a couple minutes.
By default, I get constant 4mb/sec transfers if I use the automount function
under nautilus (i.e. just clicking on the found external drive).

USB 2.0 is enabled and no legacy support is enabled.
I have an AMD64 5600+ and a biostar ta790gxba2 motherboard

Included is my lspci, lsusb, and lsmod:

When looking for solutions to this problem I noticed the suggestion of
modprobe -r ehci_hcd

But when I try that it says Module ehci_hcd not found. Maybe this is the
problem? If anyone can help me with this I would greatly appreciate it. Let
me know if you need more information. Thanks!
