Please do not Power off or unplug your machine

It is second time in this month.
When I tried reload the windows, It would not start and only show:
Please do not Power off or unplug your machine
Installing Update 3 of 5

(Or Installing 5 of 5)

It will last forever,
The only way is turn off and unplug the machine to let it start windows.

I do not know if it is really update windows vista, CA antivirus or some
other program.
I do not know other person have some experience

Thanks

Everyone with Vista or XP has experienced this when they have updated. It
can take a long time. You have to wait long enough. Turning it off manually
may have caused damage.

Re: Please do not Power off or unplug your machine

If waiting even one hour or a little more, OK
But after several hours I thought it might in dead loop
then I decided menually turned off windows and even I had to unplug the
machine.
After power on the window restarted and I did not find any other thing
wrong.

Re: Please do not Power off or unplug your machine

OK, several hours is definitely bad, and I would've done the same as you
did. There's really no other choice at that point. And I would have scanned
for damage afterwards (chkdsk and fsk, for example).

I'm glad it came out OK. Scary... (or should I say :scary:?)

Re: Please do not Power off or unplug your machine

I experienced another two, Both keep me waiting about 10 hours.
Then I checked windows update history and just told me it was update
security update for VS and end up with "failed".
Then I downloaded this upate and run it under winows, only took some
minites and end up with success
