| My Desktop will not load!!! PLEASE try to Help!! I have never seen a problem like this. I am at my wits end as to how to fix it. Heres a little history: Problems started back in the middle of Sept (1 1/2 months ago). I logged several hrs, over 3 days, over the phone w/ Microsoft Tech support. Unfortunately, were unable to pin point the problem. They said it was probably a conbination of spyware and viruses. Here are some of the issues acurring: I have 2 accts. Mine, (which has administrator privlages), and a Guest acct. Every time I log in to my administrator account, my desktop does NOT load. A TEMP user account is created. With all new desktop settings, etc. I receive an error message saying that my user profile was/did not load correctly. A Temporary user account has been created. Any changes to this acct will not be saved. Many of my programs are screwed up. ie; Adobe Reader, Microsoft Word. My Microsoft Word created each time, as if for the first time. But will not load 100%. The only way I am able to access my files, (Docs, music, photos, etc.), is by going to start, go into Computer, click C:/ drive, click on users, click on emilee. And there are all my folders file files. Can anyone offer any suggestions? THANK YOU, PS The 2nd acct (the guest acct) opens just fine!!!! -- pedromom43 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pedromom43's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/142837.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-help/1257083.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

I would suggest the following: 1) Backup your data 2) Install Windows and use the option to wipe clean the partition and create a new one. 3) Load Motherboard drivers if any 4) Install anti-virus software 5) Reinstall Apps. 6) reload Data. What ever you do - DO NOT flatten your system. It will break. |

The more time you spend on an OS, the more problems you will find. That you would think Linux has fewer problems than Windows, only shows you haven't spent much time using it. |

You should lay off the drugs. |

| Re: My Desktop will not load!!! I have never heard of linux, but will diffinately look into it. Since all do not share your opinion, I will beware. I just wanted to say a big thanks for all the respones. I will be doing some further toubleshooting with scans and such. My only problem is that I was not given the Windows VISTA CD with my computer. I got the sealed container, but didn't open it untill recently and it was EMPTY. I don't think Tosiba will make up for the error, and send me a free disk, after over 2 years. ???? Anyway, I have backed up the bulk of my data and will work on a proper recoverey. Will update soon.
