| Calling all Experts (Quick favour please...) Hi Guys, I'm just after a quick favour and I'm sorry if this is not the right place to ask. I'm currently doing a language course at University and within that I'm doing a project on how some businesses write to customers using technical jargon. If at all possible can you please write a couple of paragraphs, using all your technical knowledge/expertise, regarding a typical real life computer problem. Please write the short report to confirm that following your inspection you've established why the computer isn't working/performing - Then imagine that you're writing your findings to a computer engineer so all technical terms and abbreviations are welcome. It's then going to be my job to investigate what's been said and then to rewrite the short report in a friendly, plain English format. Hope you can help. Kindest regards, Debi :-) |

| Re: Calling all Experts (Quick favour please...) 1) Found PL11 on Controller, so we can try connecting it after nearly a year it's been unused. However there's also PL10 unused - what is its purpose? Our machines have been using PL1, PL2, now trying PL11, but what is PL10 for? 2) I don't understand "using SMB cable for Varicaps" as there's NO SMx connector on Cassette for it. Mike, you have added 2 SMB/C for Diode board (RFin from poweramp, RFout from preamplifer), right? OK. But are we now talking about adding a 3d SMB connector? There's no space. How did you connect Varicaps control in your machines? - If you used an SMB as you said in email, wouldn't it result in 3 SMx connectors, total? All I see is an old Dsub9 and 2 new SMB/C; not 3. 3) There's a new coax input on Duplex Schematics - appears to be "RFpulse-excited switching" meant for new PIC's (future) or already using? That results in 4 SMx connectors total, where does all this stuff fit into? That Coax is added to the old Gate input (Gate is lowfrequency digital, so not coax, but Dsub9). 4) It appears most new Diode/Duplex Schematics are not showing I/O ports assignment (not labeled what is what), only because I've worked here for a while I can guess what is what, but really we need to add labeling to off-page connectors. Anyone from outside will not understand what output goes to what input and what is unused., for a week if not forever. The labels ironically were in old schematics except P & Q points were flipped (corrected now). You see one question triggers an avalanche of others, and I was asked just to assemble cassette but really this is engineering investigating between two countries, takes a day for each communication. I love profession, but not as far as jumping out of my skin for free.... |
