after installing windows 7 from vista my in internal mic no long picks up my
voice. i have a sony vaio VFN-FW21E

i have attempted using it on MSN messenger and setting up that way but
still, problem continues

Have you installed a driver for the microphone?

I checked the Sony web site for Vaio notebook computers and found Windows® 7
Upgrade Information at:

However, there is nothing mentioned about sound systems. Also, I could not
find your particular model (VFN-FW21E) listed.

The first thing to try is right click the speaker icon in the lower right
Taskbar next to the clock. Select Recording Devices. See if your sound device
is set as the default and also check the Properties and then the Levels tab
to see if the volume for your microphone is set high.

Recently I have the same Problem after I installed windows 7; the microphone
on the plantronics headset stopped working, installed most recent drivers,
reinstalled most recent drivers, tired registry modification. Thousands of
people are reporting the same problem. If you have a fix please share it.
