Re: Sony Vaio

Type msconfig in Start's Search box and disable it on the Startup tab.

Autoruns from Sysinternals will show you what is being loaded when Windows starts.
Download it from here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

It doesn't need installing, just unzip and run the autoruns.exe file from the folder.
Right-click and run as admin.
Agree to the license and it will scan your computer listing everything, including loads of Microsoft entries.
Click on Options and select ' Hide Microsoft and Windows Entries '.
Click on the green arrows icon to refresh the list.
Now look down the list and see if you can recognise anything relating to Sony.
Clear the box to disable or right-click to delete any entries.

Either download the sysinternals program suggested earlier or, if that
seems intimidating, download this:

http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

RUn the .exe that you download. It will install an icon in your
Control Panel. They just go to the Control Panel and double-click
"Start up". It will show you everything that is starting up. You can
disable items without deleting them to test without any real danger to
your system.

Start up MSCONFIG and select Startup tab and disable it.

I'm not sure what it goes by, though.

If you need further help, make a list of the programs listed in Startup tab
and post it.

RE: Sony Vaio

I think I have found the answer to the problem you and I are having. I did
the following and it got rid of the Vaio Startup Assistant at startup. First
download
this small program (It's safe I've been using it for years). Go to the web
bar and
type in QUICK STARTUP when the web page opens double click on QUICK STARTUP
from CNET.COM (fourth one down on my laptop). After you download the program
uncheck VAIOREGISTRATION and that will remove the Startup Assistant when
starting.
